Bloomberg: game developers expect the price for PlayStation 5 to be $500-550
Developers who make games for the PlayStation 5 believe that the price of the console at the start will be $500-550. This was reported by Bloomberg.
As the publication notes, when forming the price, Sony expects to go to zero, and not make a profit. The company plans to receive the main earnings from subscriptions to PlayStation Plus and other services with periodic payment, rather than for one-time sales of consoles.
Bloomberg journalists also believe that after the release of the PS5, prices for the fourth PlayStation will fall significantly. Now the console will cost the buyer $300 for the regular version and $400 for the Pro. However, by further reducing its cost, Sony can attract more users of PlayStation Plus and its other services, thereby increasing profits.
According to the original plans, production of the PlayStation 5 should begin in June, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sony engineers can not come to Chinese factories to finalize the final prototype. But this should not affect the release date of the PS5 — the company plans to reduce the first batch compared to the release of the PS4.
The PlayStation 5 will go on sale during the Christmas holidays in 2020.
